HESTIA station is in European boards format designed for a 3U rack
allowing flexibility and facilitated maintenance.
There are 3 types of presentations :
- 2 or 4-lane portable station
- fixed station from 1 to 12 lanes in a single envelope cabinet, used in technical premises
- fixed station from 1 to 12 lanes in a double envelope, intended for outside installation

HESTIA is organized with a 16 bits-multiprocessors system and mainly by the use
of an intelligent detector per lane. This architecture allows:
- to obtain identical performances whatever the number of lanes (monitoring
of a traffic from 500 to 8000 vehicles/hour)
- to memorize the data of each vehicle (speed, weight, category...) and
to build statistical tables,
- to transmit the data from the embedded memory towards a computer by modem
to 9600 bauds,
- to add remote detectors (distance HESTIA/detector less than 2km)
- to add functionalities (weather, FMS,...)
Three levels of station HESTIA are available :
- HESTIA 100T for the traditional requirements, by using of 2 loops per traffic lane.
It carries out following measurements:
- Counting
- Speed
- Vehicle length
- Occupation rate
- Category (long/short)
- Time between vehicles
|
|
- HESTIA C to meet more complete needs for determination of silhouette,
by using of 2 loops and 1 long or short piezoelectric sensor:
- Counting
- Speed
- Vehicle length
- Occupation rate
- Time between vehicles
- Silhouette category
- Inter-axle distance
- Total wheelbase
|
|
- HESTIA P which allows very accurate traffic analysis and to carry
out dynamic weighing of axles and vehicles, by using of 2 long piezoelectric sensors and 1 loop:
- Counting
- Speed
- Vehicle length
- Occupation rate
- Time between vehicles
- Silhouette category
- Inter-axle distance
- Axle weight
- Total weight

WELCOME software package allows communication and parameter setting of the entire
range of HESTIA stations.
The SATIA I software package enables automatic station interrogation at user
defined intervals as well as automatic sending back of the measurements.
The SATIA II software package allows the display of real time traffic, where
the vehicles move across the computer screen simultaneously to those on the
roadway (camera function). These displays include traffic statistics,
classification, weight, etc.
Main characteristics:
- Maximum number of lanes : 4 in portable format, 12 in fixed format,
- MMaximum memory : 4MB in portable format, 8MB in fixed format.
- Sensors usable:
- Lightning protection fitted to loop, power supply and sensor according
to whether fixed or portable modem,
- Power supply :
- Battery,
- solar panel,
- 110/220VAC (+10%, -15%) 50/60 Hz (+/- 5%)
- Consumption :
- 2-lane portable : <130 mA at 12VDC
- 8-lane fixed : <400 mA at 12VDC
- Operating temperature between -25°C and +65°C
- 95% maximum humidity without condensation,
Measurements accuracy
- Counting: ±1,5%
- Speed : ±5%
- Classification of long vehicles/short vehicles : ±5%
- Occupancy rate : ±5%
- Weighing : The latest trials carried out on three stations have shown
that the accuracy is of class B within the french COST 323 "recommendation in the
choice of sites and the acceptance of weighing station" project.
- Total weight : 95 % of the measurement within ±10%
- Single axle weights : 96 to 100% of the measurements within ±15%.
- Single axles within a group of axles : 93 to 97% of the measurements within ±20%.
- Tandem and three axles : 90% of the measurement within ±13%.
In addition, the station is better than the class II of the ASTM 1318 specification (USA).
